How the company was founded...

The 3rd Degree was founded in 2001 by the three directors, Philip Martin, Sally Burley and Edward Latimer-Sayer to build on an earlier idea for a way to improve market research and opinion polling using SMS technology. The concept won us a place at Live the Dream 2001 in Nottingham to present an elevator pitch to a forum of investors, academics and business people from around the country. The pitch was enthusiastically received confirming a market need for this new concept. Over the following year the concept was refined and formal software design began. Having agreed the time was right we left our day jobs and started working for the 3rd Degree full time in 2003 recruiting an additional three developers to complete the team.
